Changes to visitor rules coming
Around a year ago, I sent out an update that there was a Bill before Parliament that would limit visitors' stays to 180 days in any 12 month period. This bill was subsequently passed, but remains inactive at this time.
This will put an end to the practice of many people to effectively reside in Bermuda by entering Bermuda as a visitor for six months, leave for a short period and then return, starting another six month period.
Yesterday, Immigration made an announcement that it is intended to bring these changes into effect as of the 15th January 2024. There are a couple of implications of this.
