Caution over Bermuda passport use

Once somebody becomes naturalised as a British Overseas Territories citizen, they can apply for a Bermuda passport. In the past, this has been a useful passport to have. For nationals of countries with visa restrictions, it provides them with a more valuable passport. Even for nationals of countries without major travel issues, a Bermuda passport could make it easier to travel to the USA, for example.

There were always some problems, though. Bermuda Immigration tends to put a stamp inside saying that the holder does not possess Bermudian status, which can raise questions when crossing borders. Furthermore, lack of familiarity with Bermuda passports can sometimes lead to delays or problems when crossing borders.

However, recently, a more critical issue with Bermuda passports held by non-Bermudians has emerged.
