PRC Amendment Bill tabled in House of Assembly

(published Sep 2021, but updated Feb 2025)

The long awaited PRC amendments Bill has now been tabled in the House of Assembly. This is the first step towards a Bill becoming law. It has to pass the House of Assembly, and is then sent to the Senate, where amendments can be proposed. Assuming it passes through the Senate, it is then rubber-stamped by the Governor. It doesn't actually become law, though, until the Minister for Immigration publishes a commencement notice in the official gazette.

I'm going to give a run down of the new PRC pathways below. Those who are new to this stuff may also be interested in my overview article here on Belonging to Bermuda.
